What We Do

We Provide a variety of academic, career/college and personal/social guidance and counseling to our students (and in many cases to their parents).  Although most of our work is done in our individual offices one on one, we also work with small groups as well as classroom groups.  We spend a good deal of time on the phone talking to parents, and we meet with parents and teachers throughout the year to conduct conferences to try to benefit students.  We attempt to meet with each student in our part of the alphabet at least once each year, but many students demand our attention many times during the year.  Whether it is helping students to get along with their parents, peers or teachers, or whether it is helping them to understand what credits and courses they need to take to graduate or what their GPA and class rank is, or whether it is providing information on careers and colleges and assisting them to fill out college and scholarships applications, or whether it is just trying to encourage them to "hang in there" even though they are experiencing some difficult circumstances either in or out of school, we try to show each student that we care and we are willing to listen and try to help them any way we can.   We try to help students understand that they have responsibility for their lives and that they need to be careful to make wise and appropriate choices and decisions.

When Students Can See Us

Normally, one or more counselors are available from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on school days.  Students can see a counselor before or after school, during their study period, during their lunch period or when  a teacher gives them permission to see us during class time.
